Why Zelda and Skyrim fans should be Best Friends

You just might be surprised why you aren't already...

November was a huge month for games and if you had to boil down the two biggest action adventure were The  Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. While I didn't buy Skyrim I did pick up Skyward Sword and between me playing Zelda for 20 hours so far and listening to people talking about Skyrim as if they all work for Bethesda PR. Now in a year of great games coming out I have not noticed any two more games that people just spend countless hours telling each other their own stories of playing each game. The only big difference these two parties have is that I have yet to run into any Zelda fan wanna play or buy Skyrim or vis-versa.

SO LISTEN UP EVERYONE!!!

****I want to start by saying that this piece is by no mean is telling you that you are wrong for only liking one game instead of both, I just want to show the many similarities I have noticed between fans.****

Something notable about both games is just the pure wealth of content in each game. In a day in age where paying $60 for a game and getting a campaign that last over 10 hours is a bit of a rarity. Now that doesn't mean those games are bad it is just that when you hear people complain about games costing as much as they do and complaining about it. Having two games come out offering over a 100 hours each if you can devote the time to both. Also with Zelda being a Wii game it only cost $50 instead of $60 which is a nice plus.
Image searching Skyrim Zelda brought me to some interesting pictures...

With both games being such massive and epic titles you will have lots to tell your friends about and discuss. Now with Skyrim things are really much more open to the player and you have many many more options on what to do, where to go, and how you get there. With Zelda being a much more focus and linear experience it is still something fans like me enjoy talking about what we thought of everything. Still Zelda has tons of collectibles and side quest to keep you busy for many hours distracting your from the fact that Zelda is STILL missing.

This brings me to an interesting side note. While talking about both games is fun and what you have done with each side quest or mini game I  personally enjoy watching and even just hear people talk about the act of playing both games. Running around in each world is something that can suck up a good portion of time itself while not boring the play. Also I would like to say THANK GOD Link can run now its about time!
Zelda hands down sorry Skyrim fans

In the end Skyward Sword and Skyrim's similarities and differences make them both great games to share stories with one another as well as play for most gamers out there. So hopefully after reading this you will feel inclined to either play these games or listen to others talk about these games. With the holidays coming up it is always nice to get together and just talk to your friends new and old about games even in the cases where you might not ever plan on picking up that game (like Skyrim is in my case) and just enjoy swapping stories as well as enjoying each others company. Thank you for reading I hope you all enjoyed my post and I wish you all a very merry Christmas!

Assassin's Creed Revelations WHAT HAPPENED?!

Sure would have been nice if ANYONE reported on this...
Recently Assassin's Creed Revelations was undergoing maintenance on the 25th of November and this was just scheduled to fix some minor issues and in less than a day the servers went back up and everything went back to normal...OR DID IT?!

As I was playing Revelations and finished the story mode my 1st thought was "Time to spend some Uplay points and get that multiplayer pack. Next thing I know the game won't let me log in for some reason and says the AC:R servers are currently not available. At first I didn't think anything of it and just though it would be fixed by tomorrow. This was not the case and  until the 29th of November this problem was still going on. I thought that this problem could just be me since I had not heard anyone talk about it on any of the major news sites, but I soon checked the official forums and saw many others were going through what I was. This issues wasn't effecting everyone and there was no way to tell what made you unable to connect to their servers. So while I saw all my friends playing multiplayer I was stuck with no estimated fix date.

This brings me to another issue I had which is this couldn't have happened at a worse time. Ubisoft has an online FAQ that is actually pretty useful in helping people with problems, but no matter how many times people submitted this problem people never got a fix, reason as to whats going on,  or even what to do. The other solutions for technical help is the Ubisoft support line which closes on the weekend and no one knew about this issue until late Friday so we were stuck in the forums going "WTF is going on???" until their phone lines opened up on Monday. So over the weekend the occasional mod would stop by suggesting we go to the already mentioned useless online FAQ and finally someone who wasn't trying to BS everyone just laid it out straight by saying they are aware this is a problem and they are looking into it.

Finally Monday arrives and I notice that the servers are still not connecting so I give Ubisofts support line a call and explain the issue I was having and the lady told me that they are aware of the issue and things should be up in 24 hours. I was grateful of the time frame for this problem finally being fixed, but I needed to know what really happened. I am aware issues like this can happen and no one can see these coming, but I wanted to know how they totally dropped the ball PR wise on this whole issue. While I see this effected a very small part of the community this still effected your "fans" the paying customers who just spent their money on your product. So the least you could have done was reach out sooner and say we know you are having issues, just stay with us as we work through this. Instead after e-mailing Ubisoft directly about the issue, leaving comments and post on their official facebook pages and not hearing back at all until I called the support line is a bit ridiculous.

I want to end this by bringing up one last topic of discussion. Besides forums how did no one on any video game news site pick up on this. So that is why I wanted to write this piece talking about what happened to let you know if you were one of the people who didn't know about this and were not affected. Let me know what you think of this whole situation in the comments below, whether you were affected or not how do you think this whole situation was handled.

The Legend of Zelda Feature in Progress

11/20/2011 Can't come any sooner can it?
Hey everyone! As some of you might know a new Zelda game is coming out for the Wii. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword comes out 11/20/2011. While I don't spend much time ever talking about the Wii I truly LOVE The Legend of Zelda series and want to hear what you have to say about the series as well. I will be writing an article for about the 25th anniversary of Zelda and would really appreciate to hear from other fans. I am looking for any memories you may have involving the series, reasons you like or hate the series, which game is your favorite, least favorite, what got you into the series, etc. I will also read some of these out on my podcast. You can post short stories or reasons in the comments below. This doesn't mean I don't want longer stories. For longer stories or memories you would like to share just e-mail me at torchwood4sp@gmail.com

I am very excited to be able to talk about one of my favorite and memorable series with all of you. This along with other features I have been working on (besides the podcast) have been the reason I have switched from smaller and more consistent updates. Expect most of these to hit around December. Thanks as always for being so patients with me and I can't wait to read what gets send in.

GTA V Trailer is Out!

This trailer shows a lot of things off for a reveal trailer. While it does not show who is the new character is (possible a returning character?) you do see some potential candidates. I for one think and hope Tommy Vercetti is the main character. Tommy was the main character in GTA Vice City for those of you who did not know. So what else can you find in the trailer and what do you think?

Still getting killed in Dark Souls....(and loving it!)

This guy has killed me so many damn times!!!
I have been slowly making progress in dark souls and while I take 1 step forward in the game it keep wanting to stab in the throat and push me right back to where I started. This is a mixed bag of feelings for me while I hate dying and losing my souls, I really enjoy learning from my mistakes and teaching myself what I did wrong. I am really enjoying talking to people who play dark souls since trading stories of discoveries and misfortune can lead to hour long discussions about what to do next. I hope to make as much progress as possible in the coming days before Batman Arkham City. In that time I hope to finish up my hard playthrough of Arkham Asylum in the mean time as well.

Another Update

so how is that review going...
Sorry for the complete lack of reviews or even any posts (again). So I will have to make a change to my order of things due to the completely packed couple of weeks it is going to be this fall/winter for games. I have beaten Shadow of the Colossus and have been playing through the God of War collection for review as well. I have gotten into some new games as well which have been stealing almost all of my time in a good/bad way. I have gotten access to the Uncharted 3 multiplayer even for the month of October and have gotten myself sucked into Dark souls which is bound to steal my life many many times.

I was planning on writing reviews and features, but due to the amount I have to cover this is not a very easy task alone to say the least. I will be posting more updates that tell what I have been playing as well as what I think of them instead of the reviews and features I had planned for the coming weeks. I still plan on covering the 15th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, but need to find a time to breath and get away from all of these new games I want to play/write about. Hope you all don't mind the ever changing schedule of TW4N. Thanks for being such awesome readers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection Impressions

Hungry for more....Zombies?
I am not the worlds biggest Call of Duty fan at all, but I do enjoy playing the Zombie mode quite a bit. That is why I was very excited when I saw the newest DLC pack would be all Zombie maps I new I had to pick this up the moment it came out. Rezurrection includes all 4 Zombie maps from World at War but, with updated features like songs and additional mystery boxes. The 5th and final map is an all new epic map that takes place on the Moon. If you already own the classic zombie maps you get moon for free with the other extras included. If you don't already own the classic maps you can pick everything up for $15. Besides the extra maps you also get the entire soundtrack used in the zombie maps as well as dead ops arcade also PS3 gamers get a free Moon static theme which is a nice addition to an already great piece of DLC.

I never played much of World at War and the same (sadly) goes to classic zombie maps as well. The maps are very different and you can really tell what the developers were changing from map to map making maps bigger as well as better. When you start playing the simpe house level you never feel like the smallest level in the game is a bad thing, if anything the claustrophobic level makes things even more tense. Finally when you make it to Der Rises you can tell this is what made the newer maps in blops. While with moon you can really tell that this is going to be the most epic of all the maps. Just by the begging having you start at area 51 while the zombies, dogs, and etc come at you until you all get on a teleporter that makes the level really start with you all on the moon searching for air right away since you need oxygen to breath. Moon is one of the hardest levels I have played in a zombie map which makes it my new favorite with all the cool secrets I have found and have yet to find.

For $15 you can't call your self a fan of zombies. This is the best piece of DLC that has been release for COD since I have started playing the game. GET IT!!!!

Dead Nation Road of Devastation Impressions

Hey remember that game with the zombies....yea this is that one
Dead Nation was a game made by the creators of my first PSN which is Super Stardust  HD. I won't go into details about Dead Nation, but if you don't know about it just buy it because it is a great PSN game also having a platinum trophy doesn't hurt either. This DLC adds more gameplay but, no story which is completely fine with me. This DLC gives you 3 roads to go down on: 1. Guns 2. Money 3.Score. You choose a path each round and see how long you can make it as well as how many KPM (Kills Per Minute) you can get. The paths don't change each time which is a bit of a let down, but the rounds add more enemy's and raise the difficulty (on an already hard game). I really enjoyed the different environments with each path and this has potential for many many playthroughs. For the low price of $4 it is a great price for something that doesn't add to much but, will keep you coming back.

If you own Dead Nation you have no reason not to pick this up. For $4 you have no reason not to buy this addition content.

Assassin's Creed Revelations Multiplayer Beta Preview: Time To Get Your Staby Stab On

It's free why not play it you dummy!
With another Assassin's Creed coming out this year the most exciting part for me besides the story is the still totally original multiplayer. Like I have said before AC:Brotherhood introduced a interesting and a very much needed addition in this day and age with FPS games flooding the market in the multiplayer.

The multiplayer in Revelations is the same as Brotherhood, but makes such suttle changes, that you will find playing it much more differently. The basics are mainly you and other charecters select an assassin and is put into the level with NPC's filled with copies of everyone's charecter. This means every player has to try and acts as much of a NPC as possible. So this makes running on roofs a very obvious way to tell people where you are. In every game you will have an assassin hunting you while you are looking to kill someone at the same time.

With the limited maps and modes I have still found myself having fun. The only thing that can really hold this game back is the playerbase like the last game. I am still wanting to put more time into the beta and would like to get more time on it.

Get Ready For Some Assassin's Creed Revelations Beta And Impressions

Get ready you wanna be assassin's
I have just downloaded and installed the PS3 exclusive multiplayer beta for Assassin's Creed Revelations and can't wait to dive into it and check out every feature and compare it to Brotherhood. I spent a long amount of time playing Brotherhood's multiplayer, but due to low player base sadly, it ended up sort of dying out. Hopefully with Revelations the multiplayer will get a lot of attention by fans. The multiplayer in the AC games are some of the most amazing and innovative take on multiplayer and can't wait to see how they work on that even further.

Who Needs Persona 5 When You Can Still Play Person 4?

Don't worry this is real and not a fan made picture
*Click Pictures To Zoom In*
Famitsu Revealed two brand new games in the Person 4 universe which complements the upcoming anime series very nicely, a fighting game and a portable port+expansion of Person 4 on the PS Vita.

1st lets start off talking about Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. This will be a fighting game developed by Arc System Works; the creators of the Blaz Blue fighting game series. The game is based around Teddi a character from Persona 4 hosting a Tournament with the games persona users. No specific details were told except that it will release in arcades in Japan Spring 2012. Also it will hit PS3 and 360 Summer 2012 in Japan as well. No official word on any U.S. release date, but you shouldn't worry to much about seeing this state side. Check out below for more screen shots courtesy of Famitsu.

Starting Tournaments Like A Boss

Miss Out On Persona 4? Well You Are In Luck!
The Second Persona 4 game announced is called Persona 4: The Golden and this is much more than a toned down version of the PS2 game Persona 4. The PSP port of Persona 3 became Persona 3 Portable (P3P) was a great game for newcomers to the series, but had a few features, voices, and cut scenes missing compared to the original, but Persona 4: The Golden will be the PS2 original plus more. The Golden will include 1.5x's more voice acting compared to the original, a whole new charecter to play as, new songs, a new opening movie, new events, and new anime cut scenes. Persona 4: The Golden will release for the PS Vita Spring 2012 in Japan. Much like the fighting game no official U.S. dates, but don't lose any sleep worrying about it. Check out screenshots for Persona 4: The Golden below courtesy of Famitsu.

Here is your 1st look at the newest Persona User

New Cut scenes are looking good
Let me know what you think of this news below in the comments section. Also check out these trailers for the Persona 4 anime coming out soon which is looking very good. Expect to see Persona 4 the animation this October in Japan.
