Who Needs Persona 5 When You Can Still Play Person 4?

Don't worry this is real and not a fan made picture
*Click Pictures To Zoom In*
Famitsu Revealed two brand new games in the Person 4 universe which complements the upcoming anime series very nicely, a fighting game and a portable port+expansion of Person 4 on the PS Vita.

1st lets start off talking about Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. This will be a fighting game developed by Arc System Works; the creators of the Blaz Blue fighting game series. The game is based around Teddi a character from Persona 4 hosting a Tournament with the games persona users. No specific details were told except that it will release in arcades in Japan Spring 2012. Also it will hit PS3 and 360 Summer 2012 in Japan as well. No official word on any U.S. release date, but you shouldn't worry to much about seeing this state side. Check out below for more screen shots courtesy of Famitsu.

Starting Tournaments Like A Boss

Miss Out On Persona 4? Well You Are In Luck!
The Second Persona 4 game announced is called Persona 4: The Golden and this is much more than a toned down version of the PS2 game Persona 4. The PSP port of Persona 3 became Persona 3 Portable (P3P) was a great game for newcomers to the series, but had a few features, voices, and cut scenes missing compared to the original, but Persona 4: The Golden will be the PS2 original plus more. The Golden will include 1.5x's more voice acting compared to the original, a whole new charecter to play as, new songs, a new opening movie, new events, and new anime cut scenes. Persona 4: The Golden will release for the PS Vita Spring 2012 in Japan. Much like the fighting game no official U.S. dates, but don't lose any sleep worrying about it. Check out screenshots for Persona 4: The Golden below courtesy of Famitsu.

Here is your 1st look at the newest Persona User

New Cut scenes are looking good
Let me know what you think of this news below in the comments section. Also check out these trailers for the Persona 4 anime coming out soon which is looking very good. Expect to see Persona 4 the animation this October in Japan.

Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike Online Edition Review

-Heavily delayed, but hopefully worth it for you

I use to play SF3 3rd strike all the time back in my local arcade back in my home town and loved getting my ass handed to my 9/10 times, but loved just playing it and getting to watch it. Now in 2011 I have actually turned the tables with my skills after I have been practicing like crazy and in general getting into all sorts of fighters which has helped playing other fighting games. Still with that said 3rd strike is a much more different game compared to other fighting games even with SF2 and SF4.

-Working with my main man Yang as always!

Gameplay

This is a very serious game to jump into and can take a while to get into especially if you have never played 3rd strike before. There are many complicated system to wrap your head around playing 3rd Strike, but the big one is how to parry. Whether you parry this can make or break a match and change the outcome for even the most experienced players.

SF3 has a ton of features which is an extremely rare thing to see in a Capcom fighting game. There are vast training option, trials, challenges, arcade mode, versus (online and off), tournaments, and A SPECTATOR MODE! The game also has a ton of art and concept art, music, and movies. You unlock these by completing challenges and this gives you vault points (VP).

The game has everything in the 3rd Strike that the original arcade version had including music, frame data, and hasn't changed the visuals at all which is a good thing for me. There is also remixed music by the guy who made the music for Bionic Commando Rearmed. You can Switch between the original music and go back and forth. >
At this moment the online is running extremely well for me on PS3 and is amazingly smooth running on ROR_2">GGPO which has never been on consoles before. Be warned though as smooth as GGPO makes things know this if you don't have a decent Internet connection GGPO won't fix that for you. With that in mind my moderate Internet connection the online runs great and after some patches on match making this will be perfect.

-The Graphics aren't vastly different, but good none the least

Graphics

The game is over 10 years up and still holds up visually. Still at the same time the game blown up on HD TVs really is a bit pixleated even with some of the different filters on. The game offers a couple of very cool visual picks like Arcade mode with scan lines, ="SPELLING_ERROR_8">widescreen, and normal with challenges showing up as you process through them. Also on a final side note the game offers replays on its own match server as well as share your own videos to youtube.

Final Thoughts

The game as a $14.99 fighting game with many deep and interesting extras and features is a really good deal for me, but I can see people not liking it even on it's difficulty alone. I do have a few complaints such as the ranked matchmaking at the moment and youtube uploads are only 240P, but that is better than nothing. All in all I can't wait to get into the game even more than I already have.

10/10....PERFECT!

Love, Video Life, and a girl named Catherine

Eternal Life Volume 1 by IComeToShanghai

-There won't be any pictures with this post, but please read while listening to this it is done by one one of my favorite bands I Come To Shanghai visit there website here.

A week or so ago I had a sudden stop in the amount of post I was putting up, there were two reasons for this. 1. School was about to start and I had to get stuff done 2. I was going through a lot in my life with a girl I was with. I won't put any names to this post and will only refer to her as "her, she, etc.".

My Girlfriend and I were in a happy relationship of about 7 months at the time when she ended up having to leave to go to Japan and as much as I was thinking I was gonna miss her when it came down to it I never found myself honestly missing her. I just hung out with all my friends as normal and continued summer without her, but even though I didn't miss her I was thinking more and more about where I was in my relationship and how I really felt. While she was gone I talked to many of my friends about this and got their opinions on how I was feeling.

While she was gone I took a trip to Maine and while I was there I was alone for long periods of time with little contact with friends, games, Internet and spent a good amount of the time still thinking about things like "Am I really happy with her?" and "Do I want to be with her even after school?". For some reason or the other I couldn't really tell what I wanted and only knew something had changed and I couldn't do much while I was away and should just wait till I get back. After I got back from my week long vacation she was still not back, but another girl was waiting for me when I got back home on the 1st day and I couldn't wait to see her. This girl was actually the game Catherine. I was looking forward to it's story, but never thought I could relate to much until I started playing it and it hit me right away what was going on with me.

While playing I decided to answer the games questions they give you about love honestly as if I was Vincent (the player) and my girlfriend was Katherine (Vincents girlfriend). Now I would never cheat on a girl so don't think while she was gone I cheated on her I would never do that to a girl. The real things I noticed was I didn't want a commitment to this girl like Vincent does with his girlfriend in the game of many years. Deep down I realized I couldn't see myself actually wanting to marry her, have kids, or just live our lives together and that someone I would really feel that way about was out there. I did care for her a lot, but staying with her now just felt like lying to my self and her after noticing this. As the game continued I ended up leaving Katherine because of the choices I made and ended up with someone that I felt I had more in common with and wanted to spend of my life with.

After beating the game she had still not returned just yet and had decided out of fairness to her (since we had been dating for over 8 months at this point) wait and not act until I see her to just to make sure what I was feeling was true. When she returned I ended up finally meeting with her and unfortunately for our relationship my feeling were right all alone and had to end it and a few days later I ended it with her on the phone. I would rather be the bad guy now than wait and do this later after staying with her longer and making it more painful on the both of us. I am now in my last year of high school single and things are a bit strange now. after being with someone for a long amount of time like I was with her, going back to being single feels a bit weird and kind of a lonely feeling.

I don't regret doing anything, my feelings haven' changed at all, and I'm glad I did it when I did. Still as I'm typing this my outlook into the year ahead for the last year of high school for me isn't something I can tell how it will turn out. I just wanted to post this rather personal story about what I've been thinking about for the majority of last month and early August. I would like to thanks all my amazing friends for helping me through this. Catherine has made me realize what I am actually wanting out of a relationship now and what love as well as the meaning of commitment means to me. So thank you Atlus for making such a wonderful story and game.

DLC Round Up Review-08/18/2011

-Even after months of eating Subway I seemed to miss 2 pieces of DLC

Subway had a couple of different offers a while ago involving Infamous 2 and DLC that was impossible to get any other way. I was lucky enough to get every DLC except a cool new power called the stalker grenade and 3 new side missions by Sucker Punch and not just UGC levels these are 3 totally different level ranging from quick and simple to slightly difficult. Just this week Sony released every piece of DLC for those like me who didn't get everything and didn't wanna pay out the ass for it on Ebay. each piece is available for 99 cents and most are bundled to save a bit of cash which is nice. After trying out the new missions and powers for $1.98 it was worth going back to my 100% playthrough.

-HEY get your Toy Story out of my LBP2.....wait that's not half bad

Two weeks ago there was a Toy Story level and Costume pack. Everything was great, but one thing was missing there were costumes in the level that were not in the store to buy and I REALLY REALLY WANTED TO PLAY AS WOODY! Now this week the Toy Story 2 pack was released and with it the following costumes are available to use Slink, Hamm, Rex, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Pete, Zerg. Each costume pack has 4 costumes and is $6 each which if you are into Toy Story and LBP2 like me they are a pick up for sure.

When it comes to the Level Pack you get 5 new level with tons of stickers, objects, and music. As well as 2 mini-game levels and 2 cinematic levels. For the price $6 this pack pays for itself and the only real complaint is there are no trophies which is a bit of a complaint for a trophy whore like me.

Infamous 2: Festival of Blood Coming this October

-Hey Twilight fans! THIS is what a badass vampire looks like

Today at Gamescom Suckerpunch showed off the 1st real piece of DLC for Infamous 2 not involving UGC. All we know about festival of blood is that its a side story of sorts involving vampires taking over New Marais and biting Cole making him a vampire and giving him one night to kill the head vampire to make things go back to normal before it's to late. You so not need to have played Infamous to enjoy this side story, but need a copy of Infamous 2 to play the DLC. Think of this as Undead Nightmare for Infamous which gets me very excited and can't wait to see how playing a vampire Cole plays. No pricing was announced yet, but if I had to guess how much depending on how much I would pay $15 maximum, but to be smart pack a bunch in it and price it at $10 like Red Dead.

To wet your appetite here is the announcement trailer

Also sorry for the long delay I am back into school and have been swamped with work but I will still be putting up post as often as I can.

Review:Catherine

-In a year full of sequels and 1st person shooters, Catherine is one of the most original games to come out recently.

Catherine is a romantic-puzzler/adventure game made by Atlus and to be more specific the team that brought you the Persona series. Now even if you have seen trailers for this game you might not really know what this game is really about since most trailers show the in-game and anime cut scenes. Even I was was surprised when I finally played the Japanese demo and found out that it wasn't all cut scenes it's a puzzle game at heart. Still I found the game play to be fun, but challenging so my excitement for this game didn't fade at all. Finally thanks to Atlus USA we here in the states get to play the game with amazing voice acting.

-During nightmares you face Vincents fears..... whatever this one means

Story

You play as a 32 year old engineer named Vincent Brooks who has been with his girlfriend Katherine McBride for a couple of years and she is dropping some serious hints at getting married and having kids. This freaks Vincent out ALOT and that night he stays out later than usual at the stray sheep his favorite bar. After your friends leave you for the night you end up meeting this mysterious woman who you end up sleeping with and here is the kicker her name is Catherine. During the story every night you have to go through these nightmare along with other sheep's and all you know is that you have to climb up to survive. You soon find out that if you die in the dream your dead in real life. This is as much of the story that you would get from playing the demo and since the story is a HUGE part of this game it is not something you want ruined for you.

I really enjoyed the story but something that really stood out to me in the story of Catherine is how the good/bad decisions are made. In most game the moments that determine whats good and bad are very black in white, but not with Catherine I was stuck in many situations having to really think about it. Thought my 1st playthrough I decided to answer all the questions honestly to see where it took me and enjoyed the outcome.

Gameplay

When you are in these nightmare every night you have to climb these huge towers pushing and pulling blocks with certain rules and technique's you learn as you progress. In between the puzzles throughout the night you talk to other sheep about whats going. Something else people might not know about this puzzler is that it is extremely unforgiving in how hard it can get on normal mode and higher. Still with every puzzle solved I found myself getting so pumped up and excited that I did it. While I feel that way I feel some might not like the difficulty spike in the game.

When you are not climbing those blocks you are exploring the stray sheep your favorite bar. What this means is Vincent can talk to people and friends while helping them with their problems, play a surprisingly deep mini game, reply to text to effect you morality meter, and of course get drunk and learn facts about your beverage of choice. While in the bar I never got sick of the enviorment with the nice mix of people and things to do at one time. It really makes me excited to play it again to help solve everyones problems, making the replayablity even better.

Finally there are two modes not related to the story to keep you playing Catherine even more. First there is Bable mode where you and/or another person climb 4 extremely tall and challenging towers. You unlock each tower by getting gold rankings in the single player game whichs no easy feet on its own, but gives you something to stride towards. Finally there is Colosseum mode which is unlocked after beating the game and pits two players against each other to see who can either last the longest or climb to the top 1st to see who is the winner throughout the levels in the story. Neither of these modes are online, but leaderboards are a heavy focus that will help making you try harder and harder to be the best.

Graphics

-Get ready for a serious game about relationships that will make you think

Whenever you are watching Catherine this game just screams Japanese anime which can be good or bad depending on what you think of that style. The majority of the games cut scenes are using the in game graphics which is not a bad thing the cell shading used really complements the actual 2d animated cut scenes you see at certin points in the game. The amazing animated cut scenes are produced by Studio 4°C. If you enjoy their work be sure to also watch the surprisingly good Thundercats on cartoon network. So for anime style the game totally nails it.

Final Thoughts

After looking forward to this game for over a year Catherine really delivers on my expectations. With all the replay value I mentioned along with the 8 different ending you can see in the game makes the $60 or $80 price tag (if you get the deluxe edition) worth it. Still the diffucluty might turn some people away.

9/10

-To all you haters out there.......

Review:Back To The Future:The Game

-A good back to the future game.....WHAT!?

Back in 2010 I was very surprised when Tell Tale Games announced that they would be making a back to the future adventure game. I do not have to much experience with these old point and click games and was a bit nervous on how one of my favorite series would end up. Well skip forward to February 2011 and when I saw the demo for episode 1 I couldn't help, but at least try it out. I was surprised how much I wanted to keep playing so I hurried out and bought a $20 PSN card to buy the access the rest of the season.

-I will not be discussing every episode but mainly talk about the series as a whole to keep thing short.

Story

The game takes place after the events of part three and Marty has been missing Doc as he is off having fun with his time machine. Now Marty finds out that the bank is selling off Doc Browns house since he has been gone. In his efforts to stop the estate sale Marty is greeted by the delorean with no Doc inside, but a message for Marty and Doc Browns dog Einstein. Marty finds out Doc is stuck in 1931 and of course needs Marty's help.

The story continuing through-out all 5 episodes is an enjoyable, but sometimes a bit to hectic at times. As expected there you only play in Hill Valley, but just in different time periods and paradox universes to keep it feeling different. If you have watched any of the movies and know the series well get ready for more inside jokes that you would miss if you have not where I feel like 50% of this games humor comes from. Little things like that make this actually feel like back to the futre 4 instead of just a game and I commend TT Games on delivering such a great story.

Gameplay

Since this is a point and click adventure game the gameplay really boils down to solving puzzles and dialogue trees with all the different characters you meet. Now when it comes to the puzzles they are fun but could have been much harder. In an attempt to make this very accessible it didn't end up being very fulfilling for everyone even a newbie to adventure games like myself.

The dialogue on the other hand is fantastic with one exception the lip syncing. The great cast for back to the future either returns or is given great sound alikes which is why the somewhat broken lip syncing kinda took me out the atmosphere. Either way the lines given are great with many memorable moments and discussions.

Graphics

As expected with TT games previous releases the product will look very stylized, but simple at the same time. Still this is the closest game that resembled the concept art the most in my opinion. Not much else I can really say about the game besides that.

Final Thoughts

This game can really work for two types of people either you like Back to The Future or/and adventure games that are well written. For $20 you can't go wrong getting this on PS3 or PC, Ipad if you have those to play on. Each episode is about 4 hours long to run through from start to finish giving you around 20 hours so at a $1 an hour you can't go wrong there.

7/10

-Could this be the last we see of Marty Mcfly?.....I DOUBT IT!

Excited For That 3D Sony TV For $499 With Resistance 3? Well...

-Unless you like to buy from Gamestop you better like racing games

If you watched Sony's E3 press conference you might have noticed that Sony was offering a nice 3D TV deal with a 24" 3D T, HDMI cable, and a new copy of Resistance 3 for only $499 you might be disappointed with what Sony did to that bundle. For some reason Sony changed the game to Motor Storm 3, maybe it was cause the 3D is used better or they have a ware house full of the games they need to get rid of. Still there is good new for you fans who feel burned by this change up. Gamestop has decided to add a brand spanking new bonus to the TV bundle and that bundle is Resistance 3. There is no word on anyone matching this deal at the moment, but the change of games leaving to 2 games instead of 1 is a change I don't mind. You can pre-order the TV here.

I personally am very excited to pick this up if I can afford it, but I am mainly just looking for a new TV as well as a cheap way to get into 3D without losing a liver. Still the way this TV apparently handles TV looks really cool.

Catherine Is ALREADY Atlus's Best Selling Game In 20 Years!

-CONGRATS ATLUS on another great game!!!

Atlus sales and marketing VP Tim Pivnicny talked to IGN today and had this to say about the sales of the game.

"Catherine has exceeded our highest expectations," he said. "It released last week to tremendous critical acclaim and fan response, bolstered by the release of a demo a couple weeks prior, and continues to generate discussion among fans for its mature themes, engrossing subject matter, and frantic, challenging gameplay."

While no numbers were given this is big news for the company. Demon Souls was the last big selling game for the small publishers showing that having "faithful" fans can make a profit on those niche Japanese game. Now with Catherine being a success maybe Persona 5?

On A Slow News Day I'm...

-Well for one I am very jealous of Vincent right now.

Seriously though, I have been quite busy getting a lot of things done with video games and here is a quick update for what I'm playing. I finally beat Catherine after 16 hours and am working on a review as well as for Back to the Future the game series. Also in anticipation for Bioshock Infinite I have picked up Bioshok 1 and 2. So far I have played around with Bioshock 1, even though I beat it already I still wanna go through it one more time. Finally I have not forgotten about L.A. Noire and am working through that as well, but will not put up a review for it. Although I might post impressions cause it is quite an interesting game.

Finally as a plus for this slow day thanks goes out to VG-Resources for these Hidden Cellphone Pictures that were on the disk and some were not used. By the way this article will be long, but you won't mind. Enjoy!
